Green Bay Strikers

Our Purpose

Our program depends on volunteer coaches to be successful.  Coaching gives you the opportunity to teach skills, teamwork and sportsmanship and reap the benefits of personal enjoyment and appreciation from your players.  No experience is necessary!  The Strikers will provide training and support throughout the season.

Coach registration will open January 1.  Register as a Coach before March 1 to receive a $20 refund! To register, please create or sign-in to your account, sign up as a coach in the "Volunteer" section.  Fill out all sections, including any request for a co-coach.  Your child will be placed on the team that you are coaching.

Games are held Monday-Thursday, averaging two games per week.  The season will run from May to July.

If you have any questions, please email [email protected].  Thank you!

Coach Registration and Training Information

Coach registration will open January 1.  Log into your account or create an account if you are new to Green Bay Strikers.  Go to the Volunteer tab and complete the coach registration section.  Choose the division you would like to coach for and note the child's name that you would like to coach.  If there is someone you would like to co-coach with, please list their name as well.  Email [email protected] with any questions.

Mandatory Online training - SAY provides insurance for all coaches and players and requires ALL coaches to complete online Concussion and SafeSport training prior to participating in any practice or game situation. This is for player safety as well as protection for you as a coach.

Concussion Training (Required every 3 years) Review the coaches cdc concussion fact sheet.pdf and complete the HEADS UP to Youth Sports: Online Training. From the Heads Up page, click on the link under the picture of the computer on the right hand of the screen.  This will bring you to the login/register screen.  You will need to create an account if you have not created a CDC concussion training account in the past. Print your certificate of completion and keep a copy with you at all SAY-related functions.

The second portion of the SAY National Concussion policy is the Removal-From and Return-to-Play procedure. Any athlete exhibiting signs and symptoms of concussion either during a practice or during a game MUST be immediately removed. This athlete MAY NOT return to play nor participate in any SAY activity on the same day that he or she has been removed (even if a written medical clearance is provided).

In addition, an athlete is not permitted to return to play or participate in any SAY activity until he or she has been assessed and received written clearance by a physician or by another licensed health care provider. A concussion return to play form.pdf must be submitted to the coach prior to allowing the athlete to participate in any activity with the athlete’s team, whether it be a practice or a game situation.

SafeSport Training (Required yearly) The U.S. Center for SafeSport is a non-profit organization focused on ending all forms of abuse in sport. They endeavor to make athlete well-being the centerpiece of the nation’s sports culture through abuse prevention, education, and accountabilityAll SAY Soccer coaches must successfully complete the SafeSport training yearly.  The required SafeSport training information will be emailed to you when you register as a Coach.

Classroom training In 1994 our club began requiring formal training to improve the quality and consistency of our coaching. The response has been overwhelmingly positive! We ask that all new coaches attend coach training. All coaches are welcome to attend yearly. Please watch your email for information after you have registered.

Coaches Meeting and Equipment Handout - PLEASE WATCH YOUR EMAIL FOR COACH TRAINING INFORMATION AND COACH MEETING AND EQUIPMENT HANDOUT INFORMATIONPre-season practices and a team meeting are to be scheduled by each coach.

Coaches' Screening

Coaches Screening

Most youth sports programs have instituted a screening process for volunteers. While our state does not currently have laws requiring this procedure, SAY National as well as The Green Bay Strikers want to be proactive. We understand that this process may make some people uneasy but SAY National has come up with a program that is the least intrusive of those that were reviewed.

Coaches are asked to fill out an additional form when they register. It simply asks for a previous address (if you have lived at your current address less than 5 years) and a yes/no question concerning any possible criminal history or history of violence. It also includes a standard disclaimer verifying the truthfulness of the information given. Only our Volunteer Screener will review these forms. Any "yes" answers will automatically be forwarded to RiskAwarew (our volunteer screening agency). We are aware that this is a very sensitive issue. But, as always, our primary concern is the protection of our players as well as our coaches.
