Green Bay Strikers

WHO WE ARE

The Green Bay Strikers Soccer Club is a non-profit, volunteer-run recreational youth soccer club for the East side of Green Bay.  We provide the opportunity for boys and girls, ages 4 1/2 to 18 years of age, to play soccer for fun. On average, 1100 children participate in our program each summer.  Our program’s focus is the building of teamwork and self-esteem, having fun through positive approaches to coaching and guaranteed playing time regardless of skill level.

The Green Bay Strikers and several other Green Bay area clubs are part of Bay-Lakes SAY, playing throughout the Brown County area.  Nationally, we are affiliated with SAY (Soccer Association for Youth).  SAY is a national non-profit soccer organization founded in 1967 to provide all children the opportunity to have fun, develop athletic skills and build self-esteem through the sport of soccer.  All teams are randomly selected to create balanced teams with no try-outs or cuts.

SPORTSMANSHIP

SPORTSMANSHIP
Our number one priority is for children to have fun while learning the game of soccer. Through family involvement, we hope to foster team spirit, sportsmanship, social development and a positive self-image. We want players of all backgrounds, ages and abilities to have an equal opportunity to participate, excel and enjoy the game of soccer.

We appreciate that the vast majority of our coaches and parents "keep it in perspective". However, we have had a few incidents where people let their competitiveness get the best of them. We need your help to continue our tradition of respect and good sportsmanship. At registration, all parents, coaches and players will be required to sign a Soccer Sportsmanship Commitment contract to signify their commitment of these goals.

Please remember:
Parents and coaches must be a good example to their players by showing respect and good sportsmanship toward their own team as well as the opposing team. Children are aware of how adults handle winning and losing.

Encourage your child to be gracious in victory. Encourage them to turn defeat into victory by working towards improvement.

Cheering should always concentrate on the positive. Laugh, talk and have fun with everyone from both teams. Remember, opponents are necessary friends. Without them your child could not participate. Applaud good plays by your children! Think about how any comments you make would affect your own child if they were directed to him/her.

Any coach, parent or player who violates the spirit of our program by degrading any other coach, player, parent or referee, using foul language, or otherwise depriving others from enjoying the game, will be suspended and/or expelled from the program. The League's Division Coordinators and Board of Directors will have the authority to take the appropriate action.

Green Bay Strikers Board of Directors

The Green Bay Strikers Board of Directors welcomes you to join us!

A lot of work goes into making the Green Bay Strikers Soccer Club a reality and your help is needed.  If you want to make a difference in the lives of children and be involved with the decisions that affect our club, we can use your talents.  Board meetings are held the first Wednesday of every month.  We also have various events throughout the year, including walk-in registration, coaches meeting and equipment handout, soccer tournaments and multiple committees that can always use more help.  Please contact us at [email protected] if you are interested in joining the board or have any questions.
